Our New Focus

There are some long overdue changes being made behind the scenes here at Tampa Bay Film. As one of the most popular and fastest growing entertainment industry web sites in Tampa Bay and the rest of Florida, we are well on our way to making a difference in the careers of many professionals in the indie film community and with professional talent in Tampa Bay and Florida.
We did, however, get off on the wrong foot.
Tampa Bay Modeling, our sister web site, has long been fighting modeling scams, unethical business practices, and unprofessional conduct in the Tampa Bay modeling industry. At first we thought that we would find much of the same thing in the Tampa Bay indie film community, but over time we came to realize that the threat of film scams in the Tampa Bay indie film market was far less than what is going on in other entertainment fields. The threat is diminished.
Our dear friend Nolan Canova over at CrazedFanBoy.Com once commented that the Tampa Bay Film web site focused more on whistle-blowing than actually supporting the indie film community. He was right. As of now, we are transitioning the entire focus of this web site to support the Tampa Bay indie film community as much as we can.
That doesn’t mean that we won’t tell it how it is, that we will avoid negative content, or that we will shut down our indie film scam section. We will not do that. What we will do, however, is try to see the positive side of indie film and promote that before we go negative. If something is really wrong, we’ll be the first to say so.
Our indie film scam section will be completed and will be moved into our features section. The scam button on our main menu will be replaced by a community button leading to a community section which will eventually feature a new Tampa Bay indie film message board. The contact button on the main menu will be replaced with a mail button, leading to our upcoming monthly Tampa Bay Film Mail Bag column and archives.
Mail Bag? It’s coming. Modeled after the successful Tampa Bay Modeling monthly Mail Bag by fashion model Monica Stevens, our very own indie film director and writer Alex Cain will helm the new Tampa Bay Film monthly Mail Bag! Send us your questions, and he will answer them in the next Mail Bag. Our first Mail Bag arrives on September 1, 2007.
We are working on much more, too. We have an upcoming monthly Tampa Bay film festival event called the
Tampa Film Showcase, which will tie into and be interlinked with the Tampa Bay Film web site, and are working on a new Tampa indie film blog. We have shirts, cards, fliers, and bumper stickers on the way too, and much more, which I will reveal later.
It is a good time to be involved in the Tampa Bay indie film community, and it is about to become a lot better as we help to launch an incredible and exciting chapter in Tampa indie film. You haven’t seen anything yet!
