Recommended Tampa Bay Film Festivals

Our Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival is always open! This festival is free to view or to submit films to, and while it focuses on indy films in Tampa Bay and elsewhere in Florida, we will also feature independent films on a national level! The Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival has many advantages over the event format of film festivals. Since it is always open and there are no fixed schedules, the number of films shown are unlimited. Visitors can watch the films at their leisure in the comfort of their home and office, and we have contact information so they can contact and network with the film makers. This, of course, doesn't have every advantage over film festival events, as nothing could ever replace the experience of sitting in an audience and participating with the experience of watching films with others. This is why we are working on a monthly, as well as a larger annual, film festival event for the Tampa Bay area which will complement our online festival. This said, it is interesting to note that this online experience has many advantages over film festival events for the convenience and cost factors alone, and there is very little that even the large film festivals can do for you that this cannot. Think that those pretentious film festival parties are the best way to network? They may not be the great things that they are marketed as! The big advantages to any online film festival is convenience and the fact that you are not locked into any fixed schedule. You can be selective and watch what you want. You can also be more interactive with the community, and your opinions will have more of an audience. Online film festivals are available any time and any where there is an Internet connection, so if you are short on time, this is very convenient. In the future, we expect to see the emergence of hybrids of event and online film festivals which work off of the others strengths. Tampa Bay Film Festival Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival
It's second year an outstanding success, everyone is looking forward to the next Sunscreen Film Festival. This was the top Tampa Bay area film festival in 2007, and nothing else even came close. We intend to attend the next one in full force. Tampa Bay Film Festival Sunscreen Film Festival
The Horror and Hotties film festival. Tampa Bay Film Festival Horror And Hotties Film Festival
The education channel's televised film festival, which is a lot like an online film festival limited to a sequential program. Very much recommended, although if you're going to check out a film festival which is not an event, online has almost every advantage. The obvious advantage here would be picture, sound quality, and the fact that you don't have to sit in front of a computer or with a notebook computer on your lap. You can watch the films on your leather couch in front of your high definition home theater system, which gains bonus points for comfort and the fact that you can snuggle with your significant other to a good movie. Tampa Bay Film Festival Independents Film Fest Film Festival
We admit that we don't know much about this festival, so check it out and decide for yourself if it is right for you. It comes recommended by those who we know. Tampa Bay Film Festival Tampa International Film Festival
Also known as the Ybor Film Festival, this is highly recommended and has proven to be useful to the Tampa Bay indy film community. While we are not crazy about the area that this festival is held in, it is well worth navigating the dangers and the general tacky atmosphere of Ybor City to attend this one. Tampa Bay Film Festival Ybor Festival Of The Moving Image
This is an annual horror film festival by Rick Danford and Enigma Films. We didn't make it to the 2006 venue, but rather enjoyed the 2005 event. But wait, hold the presses..... We are now hearing that this may have discontinued, replaced, or outright upgraded to an event called Halloweenpalooza(?). We only know that this will be a film festival/ party, and not much else about it. We'll get back to everyone regarding these new developments. Recommended in whatever form it emerges as. Tampa Bay Film Festival Halloween Horror Picture Show
A quarterly film festival from Creature Productions and produced as a part of the popular Tampa comic book and toy convention. We didn't get to go to the last one, BUT some of us were at the one before, and we had a lot of fun, met some great people, and saw some interesting films. Recommended. Tampa Bay Film Festival Creature Fest Film Festival

This is a comprehensive list of RECOMMENDED indie film festivals, and does not cover all of them. We have included our ongoing online film festival, and it should be noted that in the near future this site will expand with a monthly Tampa-based film festival which will tie into this web site. We also have a larger annual film festival series in the works for the Tampa Bay market. For a complete list of all professionally recognized film festivals and their cooresponding TALON recommendation rating scores, please check out the TALON Database from our ally Independent Performer. Have fun, and enjoy these exciting festivals!

SUNSCREEN FILM FESTIVAL - It's second year an outstanding success, everyone is looking forward to the next Sunscreen Film Festival. This was the top Tampa Bay area film festival in 2007, and nothing else even came close. We intend to attend the next one in full force.

INDEPENDENTS FILM FEST - The education channel's televised film festival, which is a lot like an online film festival limited to a sequential program. Very much recommended, although if you're going to check out a film festival which is not an event, online has almost every advantage. The obvious advantage here would be picture, sound quality, and the fact that you don't have to sit in front of a computer or with a notebook computer on your lap. TAMPA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL - We admit that we don't know much about this festival, so check it out and decide for yourself if it is right for you. It comes recommended by those who we know.

YBOR FESTIVAL OF THE MOVING IMAGE - Also known as the Ybor Film Festival, this is highly recommended and has proven to be useful to the Tampa Bay indie film community. While we are not crazy about the area that this festival is held in, it is well worth navigating the dangers and the general tacky atmosphere of Ybor City to attend this one.

HALLOWEEN HORROR PICTURE SHOW - This is an annual horror film festival by Rick Danford and Enigma Films. We didn't make it to the 2006 venue, but rather enjoyed the 2005 event. But wait, hold the presses..... We are now hearing that this may have discontinued, replaced, or outright upgraded to an event called Halloweenpalooza(?). CREATURE FEST - A quarterly film festival from Creature Productions and produced as a part of the popular Tampa comic book and toy convention. We didn't get to go to the last one, BUT some of us were at the one before, and we had a lot of fun, met some great people, and saw some interesting films. Recommended.

TAMPA MONTHLY FILM FESTIVAL - What can we say? This is ours, and it is going to be a monthly film festival event which will offer much more that even the big annual film festivals have managed so far. The best small film festival that the Tampa Bay indie film community will ever experience? While it would be bad form for us to claim that, we suggest that everyone should see for themselves, and if they decided to skip the first one, then check out the reviews. We predict that this will become the new standard in Tampa Bay, as it adds some revolutionary ideas and benefits. We can't wait for this to start!
A big plus for our small wonder? The fact that it won't be held in Ybor City, which should stick to cigar-making and outdated, seedy bars and nightclubs.

FILM FESTIVAL PROJECT - The big annual version of our Tampa Bay Film monthly film festival, Name: Unknown. Features: Classified. We only know that this is designed to be the new standard in film festivals, as it will be much more than one in all ways. This web site, its online film festival, and our Tampa Bay Film monthly film festival series will tie directly into this super-effective monster.
